At Dream Habitat, we are dedicated to creating passive solar houses, buildings, and greenhouses that utilize our innovative integrated aquaponics and thermal technology. These structures not only produce a variety of plants, mushrooms, and seafood, but they do so using locally-sourced materials and minimal environmental impact. How difficult is it to maintain the systems?

Our systems are easy to maintain, with the fish loop being the most critical and requiring fishkeeping expertise.


How difficult is it to install myself?
The difficulty of installation depends on your skills and the version of our technology used.


How reliable is the system?

The system is highly reliable and robust due to redundancy.


Is repair maintenance difficult?

The system requires very little maintenance and is not technologically complex.


How resilient is it to storm and other weather phenomena?

The system is resilient to storms and other weather phenomena, although it can be reinforced for certain regions.


What kind of building methods/ materials do you use?

We prefer using green building materials, including rammed earth.


Can you do custom design?

We offer full custom designs.


How much energy is required to run the greenhouse?

A 200 square foot system operates on around 240 Watts.


Is this greenhouse off grid?

The system can be designed to run on solar and/or wind power.

Can I only grow plants and mushrooms but no fish?

Plants can be grown hydroponically without fish.

How much produce can be produced?

The system can produce 200,000 pounds of produce per acre, or 4.6 lbs per square foot.


How much fish can be produced for the standard size model?

The system can produce about 1 lb of fish per 10 gallons of fishpond water every 6 months.

How much mushrooms does the system produce?

The system can also produce approximately 10 lbs of mushrooms per square foot of mushroom growing area per week.


Is the system organic?

The system is organic and does not use fertilizers when employing of fish, which cannot handle fertilizers.


What kind of fish and mushrooms are easiest to grow?

Oyster mushrooms and local fish species are the easiest to grow for beginners.


How much clean drinking water can be produced from the desalination process?
The desalination process can produce 1/2 to 3/4 lb of distilled water per day for every square foot of saltwater area under the glazing.


Can you do whole aquatic systems instead of just fish?

Whole aquatic systems can be employed, but are more difficult to maintain.

Is there a preferred orientation?

The system's glazing must be facing the sun for maximum efficiency.

Support Our Project


In 2012, while scrolling through Facebook, the inventor came across an infographic depicting a simple aquaponics system. As an engineer, the inventor was inspired to create their own version and ultimately designed a fully air-powered system. The inventor placed the system inside a passive solar greenhouse and began the process of patenting various technical components of the system. This marked the beginning of the Dream Habitat project.


The inventor originally thought that the shaded, poorly lit area at the back of the greenhouse would be unsuitable for growing plants, but discovered that it was actually the perfect environment for cultivating mushrooms. As far as we know, no one had attempted to grow mushrooms in an aquaponics system before. These mushrooms thrived because they were regularly flooded with pond water containing a low level of salt, which prevented the growth of bacteria. In the next version of the greenhouse, the inventor installed an evaporative cooling system to maintain a humid and oxygenated environment in the mushroom chamber while also releasing CO2 into the plant chamber. This innovative approach has been patented in several countries, including the US, and is currently patented or being considered for patents in 12 other countries and regions.


Thereafter, the inventor partnered with skilled architects to create houses and multi-story buildings featuring our patented CO2/O2 gas exchange design. Our goal is to secure funding to protect the building and skyscraper patents globally.


To fund our project, we are implementing a multi-faceted fundraising strategy. We are selling mini and larger greenhouse kits to individuals who are passionate about sustainable agriculture. These kits utilize the similar technology found in our commercial greenhouses, buildings, and skyscrapers with patented designs. In addition to the kits, we are botanical selling art and launching Kickstarter campaigns to generate funds. Finally, we are seeking community donations to contribute to the success of this project.
